Mail Thieves Caught In Parkland

PARKLAND, FL (Boca Post) — Broward Sheriff’s Office caught a couple of mail thieves who they say are responsible for stealing mail from dozens of victims in Parkland, Davie, and Plantation.

From Broward Sheriff’s Office:
The Broward Sheriff’s Office Burglary Apprehension Team (B.A.T.) arrested a pair of thieves suspected of stealing mail from residents in at least three Broward communities. Detectives believe there may be dozens of victims.
According to detectives, on Friday, June 3, investigators began surveillance on a vehicle suspected of being used in the theft of mail from residences in Parkland, Plantation, and the Town of Davie. While conducting surveillance in Parkland, detectives witnessed the suspects – Keno Sewel Jr. and a 17-year-old male – steal mail from two mailboxes in a neighborhood. A short time later, detectives arrested the pair without incident at a nearby gas station.
The investigation reveals that the thieves targeted outgoing mail placed in mailboxes. Detectives advise residents to consider mailing outgoing items directly from a post office.
Detectives with BSO, Plantation, and the Town of Davie are investigating the suspects, along with inspectors from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. At this time, the pair faces charges in four cases in Parkland. The charges include burglary of a structure, criminal use of personal identification information, unlawful possession of personal identification information, and petit theft
