BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Boca Raton man is facing cocaine and methamphetamine trafficking charges after a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigation, while a separate PBSO case accuses him of fleeing a traffic stop and leaving the scene of a crash on State Road 7.
Alexander Gonzalez, 40, of Boca Raton, was arrested May 18, 2026, according to jail and court records. Palm Beach County court records list two felony cases against Gonzalez: one involving drug trafficking and possession charges, and another involving fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage.
Court records list charges including trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in methamphetamine, delivery of controlled substances, multiple counts of possession of controlled substances without a prescription, possession of harmful new legend drugs without a prescription, and possession of drug equipment.
According to a PBSO probable cause affidavit, investigators began a narcotics investigation involving Gonzalez on May 8, 2026. The affidavit states Gonzalez had been identified in a previous PBSO case and was suspected of having a large quantity of marijuana.
Investigators said surveillance was conducted on Gonzalez beginning May 8. According to the affidavit, Gonzalez was seen entering a storage unit several times. On May 9, investigators said a vehicle was seen parked at Gonzalez’s home, and Gonzalez was seen exiting the home, entering the passenger seat and leaving a few minutes later.
PBSO said a traffic stop was later conducted after the vehicle left the community. During that stop, investigators said they recovered 4.5 grams of suspected cocaine after a person allegedly told them he purchased the cocaine from “Alex,” according to the affidavit.
The investigation continued May 12, when PBSO said an investigative trash pull recovered small clear plastic baggies, marijuana, grinders, mushroom gummies, a scale cover, an unknown pill and mail documents.
On May 14, according to the affidavit, management at Mission Bay Self Storage provided access to the facility. PBSO said a narcotics K9 was used to sniff a range of units and indicated a positive hit for the presence of narcotics.
A search warrant was executed May 18 at Gonzalez’s residence and storage unit, according to the affidavit.
At the residence, PBSO said investigators found 141 grams of marijuana, 11.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two vials of testosterone, six vials of anabolic steroids, 5 grams of psilocybin, large amounts of small clear plastic baggies and $1,862 in cash.
At the storage unit, investigators said they found 25.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, hydrochlorothiazide pills, acetaminophen pills, amphetamine pills, a Xanax pill, ecstasy pills, tadalafil pills, THC vapes, a scale with cocaine residue and a gallon-sized bag with cocaine residue.
PBSO also said suspected cocaine, suspected ketamine, marijuana, cash and small clear plastic baggies were found inside Gonzalez’s vehicle. According to the affidavit, investigators said the amounts of suspected cocaine and suspected methamphetamine met trafficking criteria. Investigators also cited the amount of suspected marijuana, plastic baggies and money in alleging marijuana possession with intent to sell.
After being advised of his rights, Gonzalez allegedly told investigators the items were for personal use and that he did not sell any substances, according to the affidavit. PBSO wrote that Gonzalez said he purchased large amounts because it was cheaper to do so.
A separate PBSO probable cause affidavit describes a May 8 traffic incident in unincorporated Boca Raton near South State Road 7 and Sandalfoot Boulevard.
According to that affidavit, a PBSO deputy working in the area saw a white Kia Telluride stop next to another vehicle near the intersection. The deputy wrote that a man reached into a trunk, grabbed what appeared to be a gallon-sized zip-top bag of a green leafy substance and threw it into an open window of the Kia. Based on the deputy’s training and experience, he wrote that he believed the interaction was consistent with a drug transaction.
The deputy then saw the Kia traveling southbound on South State Road 7 and Sandalfoot Boulevard and initiated a traffic stop after observing a traffic violation, according to the affidavit.
PBSO said the Kia changed lanes, made a U-turn at Loxahatchee Road and continued northbound on State Road 7. The vehicle eventually stopped at a red light, and the deputy approached the driver’s side window, according to the affidavit.
The deputy wrote that he identified the driver as Gonzalez and yelled for him to stop. The door was locked, and the deputy said Gonzalez was about two feet away. According to the affidavit, Gonzalez looked at the deputy, began to pull away and then crashed into a blue Toyota Camry occupied by a father and daughter, striking the rear bumper.
PBSO said Gonzalez continued northbound on State Road 7 after the crash. A hit-and-run crash report was completed under a separate PBSO case number, according to the affidavit.
In a May 18 post-Miranda interview, Gonzalez allegedly admitted to fleeing law enforcement, according to PBSO. The affidavit states Gonzalez said he had recently purchased marijuana and had several thousand dollars in the vehicle, believed law enforcement was going to seize it, and needed the money to pay rent. PBSO said Gonzalez also stated he was not aware he had hit another vehicle while leaving the scene.
Court records show probable cause was found May 19 in both cases. Records list a 30-day return hearing for June 17, 2026, and an initial case conference for July 9, 2026.
Bond records list $20,000 and $5,000 bonds in the fleeing and crash case. In the drug case, court records list multiple bond amounts across the individual counts, including two $50,000 bonds, two $10,000 bonds, multiple $5,000 bonds, two $1,000 bonds and one ROR bond.
The jail booking record provided with the case materials listed Gonzalez at the Main Detention Center with no release date. The charges are allegations, and Gonzalez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
