ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Royal Palm Beach woman has filed a civil lawsuit against the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, alleging she was injured in a rear-end crash involving an on-duty agency employee in Palm Beach County.

The complaint, Sandra Julmice v. Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office, was filed Jan. 26, 2026, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida, under Case No. 502026CA000924XXXAMB. The plaintiff is represented by Meldon Law, according to the filing. No defense counsel is listed in the complaint.

The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of costs, interest and attorney’s fees, the complaint states. The filing emphasizes that the claims are allegations by the plaintiff and have not been proven in court.

According to the complaint, the underlying incident occurred on or about April 16, 2024, in Palm Beach County. The plaintiff alleges Jakie Cisson, identified in the complaint as an employee of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, was acting within the course and scope of his employment at the time of the crash.

The complaint alleges Cisson rear-ended the vehicle driven by Julmice. It further alleges Cisson had a duty to operate a motor vehicle with reasonable care and failed to do so, and that the sheriff’s office is vicariously liable for his alleged negligence.

Julmice alleges she suffered bodily injury and a range of associated harms as a result of the crash, including pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, and medical-related expenses. The complaint also alleges loss of earnings, loss of ability to earn money, and aggravation or activation of a previously existing condition. The filing claims the losses are permanent and continuing within a reasonable degree of medical probability and that she will suffer losses in the future.

The complaint also references Florida’s governmental tort claim process. It alleges that, pursuant to Florida Statute 768.28, Julmice presented her claim to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on or about Aug. 18, 2025, and otherwise complied with the statute’s provisions. The lawsuit further alleges the sheriff’s office failed to make a timely determination as to compensating her for injuries she says she sustained in the April 2024 incident.

In the complaint, Julmice asks the court to enter judgment for damages against the sheriff’s office, along with costs, interest, and any other relief the court deems proper. She also demands a jury trial on all issues triable by jury, according to the filing.
