FWC Weekly Activity - Palm Beach County

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — Notable weekly activity as reported by FWC patrolling areas in Palm Beach County.

Illegal Crab Traps

Officers Rea and Schroer were called to investigate a complaint regarding stone crab traps being placed in the Intracoastal Waterway in Jupiter without the necessary markings on the traps or buoys. They retrieved eight unmarked traps from the water, which seemed to be part of the same group. Fortunately, they found a phone number on one of the traps, which helped them identify and interview those responsible after conducting a thorough investigation. During the interviews, both individuals consistently stated that they failed to take proper action to ensure compliance with regulations due to inconvenience. Consequently, appropriate citations were issued to both individuals.
