Police Identify 36-Year-Old Coral Springs Man Shot, Killed In North Lauderdale - Leayle Powell

NORTH LAUDERDALE, FL — Broward Sheriff’s Office releases footage linked to a North Lauderdale murder, offering $5,000 reward for tips. Contact BSO Homicide Detective with information.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives have decided to share recently obtained surveillance footage of individuals believed to be connected to a murder in North Lauderdale. In consideration of the family’s request, they are also releasing information about the victim.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for any tips that may lead to an arrest.

The crime took place shortly before 5 p.m. On April 27th, around the 7400 block of Kimberly Boulevard. Upon receiving reports of a shooting, BSO investigators along with deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue promptly responded. They discovered 36-year-old Leayle Powell, of Coral Springs, behind a building with multiple gunshot wounds.

Powell was immediately transported by BSO Fire Rescue via airlift to Broward Health North, where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased.

Previously released video footage from Ring cameras and still images depicted the suspects and their vehicle believed to be involved in this fatal shooting. Now, new footage is being made public in hopes of gathering additional leads.

In this recently obtained surveillance video, three individuals can be observed walking towards an apartment complex. Shortly after gunshots are heard, the subjects can then be seen running away from the scene and entering a red Honda Accord with stock rims.
