POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — BSO deputies shot a man who they say attacked and pointed a gun at them in Pompano Beach on Tuesday evening.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, Broward County Regional Communications received a call regarding an in-progress crime in the 600 block of Briny Avenue in Pompano Beach.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation reveals that an armed adult male subject physically attacked a deputy. The subject displayed a firearm and deputies discharged their firearms. The subject was struck. Deputies immediately provided medical treatment to the subject.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the subject to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. The subject is currently in critical condition. Detectives recovered a firearm on the scene. BSO’s Homicide Unit detectives, Crime Scene Unit investigators, and Internal Affairs investigators responded to the scene.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the deputy-involved shooting.
