BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Boca Raton man is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond after being charged with custodial sexual battery involving a juvenile, according to court records.

Marcos Alfredo Soba Vega, 34, was arrested by Boca Raton police on Dec. 29 and booked into the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center later that evening. Jail records list the charge as sexual battery by a custodian on a victim 12 years old or older but under 18, a first-degree felony under Florida law.

Court filings show the case was assigned to the felony division on Dec. 30. A criminal probable cause affidavit was filed the same day, along with an arrest record and notice of invocation. The court formally found probable cause in the case.

In the probable cause narrative, police wrote that the report stemmed from an investigation that included contact with the juvenile victim and a medical exam performed as part of the case review. The affidavit says the alleged conduct was reported as ongoing over a period of time, and it describes investigators’ steps in the days leading up to the arrest, including coordination with child protection personnel.

The affidavit also references a controlled phone call and follow-up communication used during the investigation, and it notes that investigators believed they had probable cause to make an arrest under the cited statute. Due to the victim’s juvenile status and confidentiality protections noted in the paperwork, identifying details about the victim and certain specifics are not included in the publicly released version of the report.

After the arrest, the affidavit states that Soba Vega denied wrongdoing and requested an attorney. The document says he was processed and transported to the Palm Beach County jail.

Records indicate Soba Vega appeared for first appearance court on the morning of Dec. 30. He was present and in custody. A public defender was appointed by the court. Bond was set at none, according to the docket.

As conditions of custody, the court ordered no contact with the victim. Additional restrictions bar contact with minor children and with anyone under the age of 18.

Court records show the case was continued to Jan. 28, 2026, for a 30-day return hearing, and to Feb. 19, 2026, for an initial case conference. Both hearings are scheduled in felony court.

The public version of the court file contains no identifying information about the alleged victim, consistent with Florida law protecting juvenile victims in sex offense cases.

Soba Vega remains housed at the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center as of the most recent booking update. No release date is listed.
