BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A West Palm Beach man is in jail today after he allegedly forcefully pulled his young girlfriend into his room by her hair when she left to use the restroom.

Marcos Christopher Salas, 37, from West Palm Beach, was arrested by Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office on a warrant that was issued after the attack.

Boca Post has learned that Elizabeth Rivera, 21, of Old Inlet Bridge Drive, in the Trends community, told deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office that she was attacked while visiting Salas. Rivera visited Salas where he was staying, Fern House, a halfway house in suburban West Palm Beach, on April 30th, 2022.

According to arrest paperwork submitted by Sheriff’s Office, Rivera says Salas yanked her by her hair and forced her back into his bedroom when she attempted to leave the room to use the restroom. Rivera left the halfway house Salas was staying at and returned home in Boca Raton only to call 911 the following afternoon.

Rivera told deputies she did not want to file charges; however, the domestic battery does not require a victim to press charges and PBSO filed anyways. Rivera did file for a protection order against Salas because she says she is scared of him and he won’t leave her alone. That protection order was successfully issued and it states Salas is to stay away from Rivera and her Boca Raton home.

Salas was arrested on a warrant for domestic battery and is currently in the PBSO jail with a bond not set. According to court records, a judge has ordered that Salas is to have no contact with the victim and that has no weapons.

Salas has an extensive criminal history involving drug use, drug distribution, and violence.
