TAMARAC, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A man died after he was hit by a car in Tamarac.

The Traffic Homicide Unit of the Broward Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a tragic accident that occurred on Tuesday night in Tamarac, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.

Reported to Broward County Regional Communications just after 9;30 p.m. On December 19, the incident involved a hit and run collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 3300 block of West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac. Responding to the call, BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, where they found an adult male lying on the road. The Traffic Homicide Unit of BSO was called in to conduct an investigation.

Initial findings suggest that an eastbound 2018 Toyota C HR utility vehicle was traveling on West Commercial Boulevard in the left lane closest to through traffic when it collided with a pedestrian who was crossing outside of a designated crosswalk. The area where this occurred was poorly lit. The impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown towards northeast and he came to rest on the median of the roadway. Unfortunately, paramedics pronounced him dead upon arrival at the scene.

Detectives discovered that initially, the driver left without stopping after the accident occurred. However, later on, Billy Tervil returned to the scene and claimed responsibility for being involved in this collision. BSO’s investigation into this incident is currently active and ongoing.
