In an abundance of caution, Superintendent Mike Burke has made the decision to close District-operated schools and offices on Wednesday, September 28, as Hurricane Ian continues to gain strength and track closer to Florida’s west coast.
Hurricane Ian, now a major hurricane, is expected to strengthen into a category 4 hurricane before weakening and hitting the west coast of Florida.
The National Hurricane Center tells Boca Post that they expect Tropical Storm Ian to strengthen into a major hurricane and expects it to hit the west coast of Florida early next week.
