Boca Raton’s March 10 municipal election will decide the mayor’s office, three City Council seats, and two citywide referendum questions tied to major public safety and downtown development plans.
Boca Raton’s mayor is pushing back on a new petition drive tied to the city’s downtown campus plan, saying a binding vote is already scheduled for March 10 — while Save Boca is urging residents to sign at the downtown library to “guarantee” that vote.
Boca Raton’s City Council approved the core agreements for the One Boca downtown redevelopment plan on a 4–1 vote, putting the final decision in voters’ hands on March 10.
Introduced to City Council earlier this week, Ordinance 5769 would authorize a 99-year leasehold conveyance of City-owned downtown land, set the redevelopment framework, and tie City upside to performance-based revenue formulas.
A political advocacy organization says Boca Raton’s planned Jan. 20 City Center agreement was revised so it would remain binding even if a promised March 10 referendum never occurs.
