Edward Magalhaes Passed Away After Deadly Crash

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — A 26-year-old man was killed after he crashed his motorcycle into a truck in Deerfield Beach on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old motorcyclist Wednesday morning.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:04 a.m. at Northeast 48th Street and Northeast Third Avenue in Deerfield Beach. The preliminary investigation revealed Edward Magalhaes was riding a 2018 Suzuki GSX-S750 motorcycle traveling westbound through the intersection. At the same time, Romario Silva was in a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck stationary in the eastbound turn lane at Northeast 48th Street, waiting to turn north onto Northeast Third Avenue.

According to investigators, Magalhaes maneuvered the Suzuki around another vehicle that was in mid-turn at the intersection and struck Silva’s stopped F-150. A witness on the scene also noted that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed and that the westbound traffic signal changed to yellow when Magalhaes entered the intersection.

BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. The motorcyclist was transported to Broward Health North and pronounced deceased at 7:34 a.m.

The investigation continues.
