Boca Post is committed to accuracy, fairness, and transparency in every story we publish. When we discover an error — whether minor or substantial — we correct it as quickly and clearly as possible. This page explains how our corrections process works and maintains a record of recent significant corrections.
How We Handle Corrections
We correct factual errors in published stories as soon as verified information becomes available. Our corrections process includes:
In-story “UPDATE” labels
When a story is updated or clarified, we add a bold, clearly visible “UPDATE” line near the top of the article. This line describes what changed and, when necessary, why it changed.
Timestamped revisions
Substantive corrections include a timestamp so readers know exactly when the information was updated. Additionally, every article contains metadata tracking the original publish date as well as the last updated date.
Transparent explanations
If the update significantly alters understanding of the story — for example, if an agency retracts or revises earlier information — the correction will explain the nature of the change.
Immediate action
Corrections are published as soon as the newsroom confirms the accurate information.
What We Correct
We correct:
- Incorrect names, dates, locations, or identifiers
- Misstated facts originating from public records, agencies, or witnesses
- Inaccurate or unclear attribution
- Material that could mislead readers
- New information released by authorities that materially changes a story
- Follow-up statements from individuals or agencies after a story is published
We do not alter a story simply because a subject disagrees with accurate reporting supported by evidence.
Reader-Requested Corrections
Readers play a vital role in identifying potential issues. If you believe a Boca Post article contains an error, you may contact us via the form located at the Who We Are page.
Please include:
- A link to the story
- A description of the concern
- Any documentation or clarification you can provide
We review every request and respond when an update or correction is warranted.
Updates vs. Corrections
Corrections
Applied when a story contains incorrect information that requires fixing.
Updates
Applied when new information becomes available (e.g., a missing person is found safe, an agency releases new details, a court filing is updated).
Not every update is a correction, but every correction is transparently noted.
Editorial Independence
Corrections are handled exclusively by the editorial team. Sponsors, advertisers, and commercial partners have no influence over correction decisions.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Boca Post strives to uphold the highest standards of local journalism. We regularly review our practices to strengthen accuracy, transparency, and accountability in every story we publish.
