PAHOKEE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says a late-night series of shootings across Pahokee ended with two men dead, a third person wounded, and the alleged shooter killed in a deputy-involved shooting after, investigators say, a deputy was struck and dragged by the suspect’s vehicle.

PBSO identified the deceased victims in the first shooting as Henry McClean Jr. (born Dec. 20, 1988) and Francisco Pacheco (born March 26, 1985). The injured victim in the later shooting was identified as Anthony Brown (born March 19, 1971), who PBSO said was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was identified as Charles McCloud Jr., 44.

PBSO said the incidents unfolded Wednesday night, Feb. 25, 2026, beginning at about 10:12 p.m. and spanning multiple locations through about 10:54 p.m. The first shooting occurred at 171 Booker Place, where PBSO said McCloud shot two adult males. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

A second shooting was reported in the 8700 block of Doveland Drive. PBSO said multiple shots were fired there, but no one was hit.

The third shooting occurred at a convenience store at 750 Belle Glade Road, where PBSO said McCloud shot an adult male who is expected to survive. PBSO later identified that victim as Brown.

Shortly after those shootings, PBSO said a deputy-involved shooting occurred while a deputy was investigating the shots-fired call on Doveland Drive. According to PBSO, a deputy was securing the area with crime scene tape during a preliminary investigation when McCloud “intentionally drove” a black GMC SUV at the deputy, striking him and pushing him about 40 feet.

PBSO said McCloud then exited the SUV armed with a firearm and attempted to shoot the injured deputy. The deputy fired his service weapon, striking and killing McCloud, according to PBSO. A second PBSO deputy also discharged a service weapon during the encounter.

PBSO said the injured deputy sustained serious injuries and was being treated at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

As the case moves forward, PBSO said the deputy who fired has been placed on administrative leave under standard agency protocol. PBSO said the investigation into the deputy-involved shooting is being handled jointly by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division.

PBSO also noted McCloud had an extensive criminal history, including charges that included riot, resisting an officer with violence, armed robbery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, narcotics equipment or possession, and escape or attempted escape from a county facility.

The shootings touched multiple parts of Pahokee in less than an hour, including a residential address on Booker Place, a neighborhood area on Doveland Drive, and a commercial corridor along Belle Glade Road. PBSO did not release a motive in its advisory and did not identify what led up to the shootings.

Residents should expect an ongoing law enforcement presence tied to the homicide scenes and the deputy-involved shooting investigation, along with follow-up updates as investigators complete evidence collection, interviews, and formal reviews tied to the use of force.
