LAKE PARK, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A former Town of Lake Park employee has filed a civil complaint in Palm Beach County Circuit Court alleging race discrimination, retaliation, and a hostile work environment tied to his employment and termination.

The case, Bryant King v. Town of Lake Park, Case No. 502026CA004408XXXAMB, was filed April 19, 2026, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County. The plaintiff, Bryant King, is represented by Colin Richards Law P.A., according to the complaint.

King alleges in the filing that the Town of Lake Park, a municipal employer based in Palm Beach County, engaged in conduct that violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Florida Civil Rights Act. The complaint seeks declaratory, injunctive, and monetary relief.

According to the complaint, King began working for the town as a maintenance worker on or about March 28, 2023, and performed his duties satisfactorily during his employment. He alleges that during his time with the town, he was subjected to a pattern of conduct described as demeaning, derogatory, and discriminatory based on race.

The complaint outlines an incident on April 6, 2023, when King was working with a coworker who was acting as a supervisor at the time. King alleges the coworker initiated a discussion about reparations and race, which escalated into statements that King describes as offensive, including a remark that if Black people did not like conditions in the United States, they should leave the country.

King states he reported the incident to human resources but alleges that no fair or impartial investigation was conducted and that he was not informed of any findings. Following that report, he claims he experienced ongoing harassment that interfered with his ability to perform his job duties.

The complaint further alleges that King was later accused of workplace misconduct, including statements he denies making and safety violations he claims did not occur while he was working. He also describes a September 2023 incident involving minor property contact while moving a water tank, after which he was drug tested and received negative results.

King’s employment with the Town of Lake Park was terminated on September 26, 2023, according to the complaint. He alleges the termination followed a pattern of discriminatory and retaliatory actions after he reported concerns to human resources.

The lawsuit asserts multiple claims, including race discrimination, retaliation, and hostile work environment under both federal and state law. King alleges that similarly situated non-Black employees were treated differently under comparable circumstances and that the conditions he experienced altered the terms of his employment.

As a result, King claims he suffered damages including lost wages, emotional distress, and harm to his professional reputation. He is seeking reinstatement, back pay, damages, and attorney’s fees, among other relief.

The allegations outlined in the complaint are claims made by the plaintiff and have not been proven in court.

The original complaint, Bryant King v. Town of Lake Park, Case No. 502026CA004408XXXAMB, as filed April 19, 2026, with the Palm Beach County Clerk of Court, can be viewed at the PBC Clerk of Court.
