BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — After 8 short months, Daniel Alexander has resigned from his position as Police Chief of the School District of Palm Beach County. This resignation marks the 2nd time someone has quit that job in less than a years time.

Chief Alexander has announced on Thursday, January 6th, 2022, in a letter to Michael Burke, the district’s superintendent, that he wishes to resign to take an executive management position outside the state of Florida.

Alexander served as the police chief of The City of Boca Raton for 13 years before joining the ranks of the School Police in December of 2019 as Deputy Chief. Alexander was then promoted to Chief when his predecessor, former Chief Frank Kitzerow, quit the post in April 2021.

The district has said that it is conducting a nationwide search for a new chief. The district said in a news release that they are not sure yet when the Alexander’s last day will be or who will replace him as the interim Chief.
