NORTH LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A tow truck driver died after being struck by a vehicle while working on the side of the road in North Lauderdale.

The Traffic Homicide Unit at the Broward Sheriff’s Office says that they are investigating a fatal crash that killed the Tow Truck Driver in North Lauderdale on July 8th, 2023.

According to deputies, the tow truck driver was loading a vehicle onto the flatbed while on the side of West McNab Road in North Lauderdale just before 9 PM. That is when 38-year-old Tawanda Hanberry, of North Lauderdale, lost control of her 2012 Lincoln MKX SUV which then slammed into the tow truck driver.

Paramedics transported the tow truck driver to a local hospital where he later died.

Deputies say the tow truck driver was wearing a high-visibility vest and had the emergency lights on his truck activated, alerting motorists of his presence.
