The Broward Sheriff’s Office’s traffic homicide detectives are unraveling the details of a two‑vehicle smash‑up that ended in a mans death, in North Lauderdale.

A moments after 8:29 a.m. On Thursday Oct. 30 BSO traffic homicide detectives were dispatched to South State Road 7 and Southwest 17th Street, in North Lauderdale following a report of a two‑vehicle collision.

The early inquiry indicated that Jean Jonas Vixamar, behind the wheel of a 2009 Toyota Camry had come to a stop, in the northbound left‑turn lane of South State Road 7 with the car’s rear tire perched on the median. At the time Kimmair Lowery, driving a 2021 Honda Accord northbound on the same road maneuvered around the Camry and slipped into the left‑turn lane.

Detectives indicate that the Toyota Camry had come to a halt, at a traffic signal poised to perform a U‑turn, when it subtly began to creep forward and collided with the rear of a Honda Accord.

Investigators say the Accord drifted into the lane and the Camry moving slowly came to a stop against the median, on the north side of the intersection.

When the Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue crew arrived they lifted Vixamar onto a stretcher. Sped him to the nearest hospital, where doctors later confirmed he had died.

Investigators say Vixamar possibly suffered an event before the crash. At this point neither excessive speed nor driver impairment are seen as contributing factors.

The crash remains under investigation with officials sifting through the details.
