Broward Sheriffs Office Safely Takes 4 Suspects In To Custody After Shooting. All After Drug Deal Turned In To Robbery.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL (Boca Post) — Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that 4 suspects were taken in to custody on January 11th, 2022 shortly after a shooting occurred near SR-7 and NW 36th street in Lauderdale Lakes.

According to BSO, deputies responded to a shooting that occurred near NW 36th and SR-7 in Lauderdale lakes on January 11th, 2022. Upon arrival, deputies found a shooting victim, Michael Roberts, 34, with non-life-threatening injuries. BSO Fire Rescue transported Roberts to Broward Medical Center for treatment.

Shortly after making initial contact, BSO deputies were able to locate the shooting suspects vehicle and made a felony traffic stop. BSO deputies were able to safely apprehend all 3 passengers without further incident. The 3 occupants, later identified as Zhante Brown, Darreyl Kimble, and Joshua Gonzalez, were found to have recently involved in a drug transaction with the victim.

Investigators later determined that the victim had actually robbed one of the occupants, Gonzalez, at gunpoint after the narcotics transaction.

All 4 suspects were arrested and charged with various charges. Two of the suspects had warrants and holds from other counties including Lee County, Martin County, and Palm Beach County.

The BSO Public Information Office is currently working a developing incident regarding a shooting located at: North State Road 7 and Northwest 36th Street in Lauderdale Lakes.

 

Public Information Officer Gerdy St Louis is currently gathering the details. Here’s what we know so far:

At approximately 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting call near North State Road 7 and Northwest 36th Street in Lauderdale Lakes. On scene, deputies learned Michael Roberts (dob 10/9/87) had been shot. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue paramedics transported Roberts to Broward Health Medical Center with injuries listed as not life-threatening. A short time later, BSO deputies conducted a felony stop on a dark grey Dodge Charger seen leaving the area following the incident. The traffic stop occurred near the 4300 block of Northwest 36th Street in Lauderdale Lakes. The Charger was occupied by Zhante Brown (dob 5/19/97), Darreyl Kimble (dob 12/2/94) and Joshua Gonzalez (dob 4/9/02). 

 

Further investigation by BSO Violent Crimes Unit detectives revealed Brown, Kimble and Gonzalez shot at Roberts after Roberts had robbed Gonzalez at gunpoint following a narcotics-related incident. 

 

All three subjects, including Roberts, were arrested. Brown and Gonzalez are facing one count of attempted felony murder. Kimble faces one count of attempted felony murder, one count of possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon and one count of probation violation. Roberts, who was in possession of a stolen gun, faces one count of robbery by firearm, grand theft of a firearm and possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon.
