Samuel Newby Of West Palm Beach Passed Away After Deadly Lake Worth Beach Crash

LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that they are investigating an accident involving a fatality after a homemade mini bike collided with a vehicle in Lake Worth Beach on Sunday afternoon.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that at approximately 4:09 PM on Sunday, October 30th, 2022, deputies responded to the area of Dixie Highway and 10th Avenue in reference to a traffic accident.

Responding PBSO district deputies and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue found a Ford Fusion and what is described as a homemade mini bike apparently involved in a serious collision.

The driver of the mini bike, Samuel Newby, 46, of West Palm Beach, was transported to Saint Mary’s Medical Center where he was later declared deceased. The driver of the Ford Fusion, Marco Barthelemy, had only minor injuries.

PBSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives were notified and began an investigation into the incident. Detectives tell us that Newby was riding his homemade mini bike southbound on Dixie Highway approaching 10th Avenue S. At the same time, Barthelemy was stopped facing eastbound on 10th Avenue S at Dixie Highway. Barthelemy began accelerating across Dixie Highway and the front of Newby’s minibike impacted the left front of Barthelemy’s car. The mini bike overturned and ejected the Newby.

Investigators note that the mini bike was not road worthy and was not a registered motor vehicle.
