83-Year-Old Boynton Beach Man Struck By Car, Killed – Jerry Godbey

LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — Jerry Godbey, 83, from Boynton Beach was killed after being hit by a car in a deadly Lake Worth Beach Accident.

The car, a Toyota Corolla, driven by 19-year-old Abraham Tamayo-Martinez, struck Godbey who was crossing US-1 at about 1:40 AM on Saturday, May 28th, 2022.

According to investigators, Godbey “darted across US 1 from east to west”.

According to a summary of the accident as provided by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Tamayo-Martinez was unable to stop before striking Godbey. Godbey impacted the windshield and was then projected forward to the pavement. Godbey came to final rest in lane 2 south of the Corolla driven by Tamayo-Martinez.

Investigators say that Godbey was pronounced deceased on the scene.

No other injuries have been reported.
