Hollywood Police have identified and captured 18-year-old Matthew Carr who they say is responsible for several armed robberies across Broward County.

HOLLYWOOD, FL — Hollywood Police have identified and captured 18-year-old Matthew Carr who they say is responsible for several armed robberies across Broward County.

Hollywood FL PD says Matthew Carr committed several armed robberies near 56th Avenue and Washington Street, not far from his home. Investigators say all of the robberies happened during a Facebook Marketplace transaction where he was either supposed to be buying or selling merchandise from other users. Instead, investigators say, Carr robbed the unsuspecting users.

Detectives say that Carr was also wanted for other violent crimes in the Broward County area.

On July 5th, 2023, Carr was taken into custody by Hollywood Detectives along with Detectives with the US Marshals Service, Florida Caribbean Regional Task Force.
