DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A vehicle fire briefly interrupted the quiet hours along Interstate 95 in Delray Beach early Tuesday, showing up before most of the city was awake.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue crews were dispatched before dawn on December 23 to the northbound lanes of I-95 near the Linton Boulevard overpass. Not rush hour. Not even close. The kind of hour when headlights are spaced out and the road hums instead of roars.

Firefighters arrived and put the flames out quickly, keeping the fire from spreading or creating a bigger hazard for drivers passing through the area. According to the department, the vehicle’s occupant was safely accounted for and not injured.

No one else was involved.

The fire was contained before it could cause damage beyond the vehicle itself, and before it could turn into something worse on a stretch of highway where cars are still moving at speed, even that early in the morning. Crews worked close to live traffic, the overpass looming overhead, lights flashing against the concrete.

No cause for the fire was released. Damage estimates weren’t provided either. Just the basics.

Vehicle fires can escalate fast, especially on highways, since fuel systems and traffic don’t leave much margin for error. This one didn’t. It stayed manageable. That matters.

The department described the response as another example of firefighters being ready at any hour, whether it’s a busy afternoon or a dark stretch before sunrise. It’s not glamorous work. It’s just what shows up on the call board.

By the time the sky started to lighten, the scene was already under control. No prolonged shutdowns. No reports of injuries. Traffic near Linton Boulevard was made safe and moved along.

Drivers who passed through later in the morning likely never knew it happened.

Fire officials routinely advise anyone whose vehicle catches fire to move away from it if it’s safe to do so and call for help immediately. In this case, that happened, and the outcome stayed simple.

Handled. Cleared. Over.
