DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Delray Beach is opening the door for local businesses that want to work with City Hall.

The City of Delray Beach is inviting business owners to attend the Delray Beach Vendor Expo on Thursday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Vintage Gym at Old School Square. The event is free and aimed at helping small businesses understand how the city buys goods and services, how to register as a vendor, and where opportunities may exist for future municipal projects and programs.

For business owners who have never worked with a city before, that is the point.

The expo is set up to connect local entrepreneurs directly with city staff involved in purchasing decisions. Attendees will be able to ask questions, learn how the procurement process works, and get a clearer sense of what the city is actually buying on a regular basis.

“The City of Delray Beach works with businesses across a wide range of industries,” City Manager Terrence Moore said. “This is an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to connect directly with City departments, learn about our purchasing process, and discover how their business can become a City vendor.”

The city said it regularly contracts with businesses providing catering, printing, promotional items, event support, landscaping, maintenance and repair work, technology services, and construction trades. That means the expo is not limited to one type of company. It is meant for a broad cross-section of local vendors, including firms that may be interested in subcontracting on larger city projects.

During the event, businesses will be able to meet staff from departments that routinely purchase goods and services, learn how to register as a city vendor, see what kinds of products and services the city typically procures, and ask direct questions about the process. The city is also promoting the expo as a chance for businesses to explore subcontracting opportunities tied to larger projects.

In practical terms, the event gives local companies a chance to better understand how public-sector purchasing works before trying to compete for city business. That can matter for smaller firms that may not be familiar with municipal requirements, vendor registration steps, or the way purchasing decisions are structured inside local government.

The city said the expo is especially valuable for businesses that have never worked with a municipality or are unsure how government procurement works. Delray Beach is hoping the event will broaden its pool of qualified vendors while making access to city opportunities easier for smaller businesses that might otherwise stay on the sidelines.

That matters both ways. For the city, a larger and more diverse vendor pool can expand competition and options. For local businesses, it can create a clearer path into city-related work that might otherwise seem hard to navigate.

The Delray Beach Vendor Expo will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, at Old School Square’s Vintage Gym. The event is free, though registration is encouraged.

Businesses looking for more information or planning to attend can register through the City of Delray Beach website.
