UPDATEBoca Post has learned the identity of the driver to spite the Delray Beach Police Department showing a complete lack of transparency by actively refusing our public records requests.

The driver of the black Mercedes has been identified as 75-year-old Nadya Pearlman of Delray Beach.

Delray Beach PD cited Pearlman for careless driving which carries a $166 fine. Pearlman has already started proceedings to dispute the infraction.

While the Delray Beach Police Department has not responded to our requests for comment, they have finally posted the following statement on social media:

At 11:08 p.m. on December 31st, four people were struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound in the 800 block of East Atlantic Avenue near the Intracoastal bridge. Three people were transported to the hospital with injuries. The fourth person was treated on the scene for minor injuries. Several people who observed the incident came forward and provided details to investigators. The driver is cooperating with police and video of the crash was obtained. DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — 3 people were transported to the hospital after they were hit by a car while crossing Atlantic Ave just before midnight on New Years’ Eve.

The chaotic scene on Atlantic Ave in downtown Delray Beach on New Year’s Eve included 4 individuals that a Mercedes hit as they attempted to cross the busy street. The accident occurred west of the bridge crossing the Intracoastal waterway on Atlantic Ave.

Sources close to the incident tell us that 3 of the people, all over 70 years old, were transported to Delray Medical Center as trauma alerts. 1 of them, who was also injured, refused treatment. Two of the victims were said to have head injuries and one of them was unconscious following the incident.

A family member of one of the victims tells us that one of the victims is on a ventilator and is suffering from several broken bones.

Several eyewitnesses have told Boca Post that the woman driving the Mercedes was seen on her phone prior to the accident. Witnesses say that the woman may have been recording video with her phone prior to the accident. Police have yet to confirm that. The Delray Beach Police Department has not yet returned to our request for comment.
