DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Construction is underway on a new playground at Riverglen Park in Deerfield Beach, bringing updated play equipment and a refreshed recreational space to a neighborhood park that serves families across the area.

Riverglen Park sits on roughly 1.5 acres at 300 NW 45th Avenue, in a residential section of Deerfield Beach west of Interstate 95. The park has long functioned as a small community gathering space, used by nearby residents for outdoor recreation, children’s play, and neighborhood events.

City officials say work is now progressing to install a modern playground designed to replace older equipment and create a more contemporary play environment.

Crews have begun placing the new structures into the ground, marking the visible start of the project. Slides, climbers, and other play features are being installed as part of the build-out, transforming a section of the park into an updated play area intended for children and families.

The improvements are part of the City of Deerfield Beach’s ongoing parks and recreation efforts, which periodically upgrade neighborhood parks to keep facilities current, safe, and accessible for residents.

Riverglen Park occupies a compact footprint compared with some of the city’s larger recreational spaces, but its location in the surrounding neighborhood makes it a regular stop for families living nearby. Small neighborhood parks like Riverglen often serve as the closest outdoor space for children who can walk or bike from nearby homes.

City officials say the new playground will introduce updated equipment designed for active play, climbing, and exploration, replacing older structures while maintaining the park’s role as a casual gathering spot.

Photos released by the city show playground components already being assembled, with colorful slides and climbing elements forming the core of the new installation. Construction activity at the site signals the project is moving toward its final stages.

The upgrades are expected to give the park a more modern look while providing new options for children who use the space regularly.

Neighborhood playgrounds serve a practical role in Deerfield Beach’s broader parks system. While the city maintains larger facilities that host sports leagues, athletic fields, and recreation centers, smaller parks like Riverglen are designed to provide close-to-home access to outdoor space for daily use.

Parents often rely on these neighborhood parks for quick visits after school or on weekends, particularly in residential areas where walking access is common.

The improvements also reflect ongoing investment in public parks across South Florida, where municipalities regularly replace aging playground structures as equipment reaches the end of its service life.

Modern playground installations typically incorporate updated safety surfaces, improved climbing structures, and equipment designed to support a wider range of ages and physical activity.

At Riverglen Park, the installation process is already visibly changing the space. Construction crews are securing the playground structures and preparing the surrounding play area so the equipment can be safely used once the project is complete.

Residents passing by the park can already see the new features taking shape.

City officials say the project is nearing the finish line, with installation continuing as crews complete the remaining steps required before the playground opens for public use.

Once complete, the updated playground will provide a refreshed outdoor destination for families in the surrounding Deerfield Beach neighborhood — adding new play structures while preserving the park’s role as a small but active community space.

Riverglen Park remains open to the public while work continues in the playground area.
