UPDATE - 8/12/22

Broward Sheriff's Office tells Boca Post that they have captured the man who fled from them last month.

According to BSO, the investigation linked a string of armed robberies and resulted in two more men being arrested.

The investigation started when, shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Monday, July 11, Broward Regional Communications received a 911 call regarding a shooting at a residence in the 700 block of Northeast 43rd Court in Deerfield Beach. During the preliminary investigation, BSO Special Victims Unit (SVU) detectives determined the shooting was domestic-related. SVU detectives said the suspect, Tony Linares-Gomez, went to the home and asked to visit his infant son. Due to the late hour, family members told Linares-Gomez to come back the next day. Instead of leaving, detectives said Linares-Gomez, and friends with him at the time, fired several shots at the home. The only gunshot victim, an adult male, walked to Broward Health North hospital for treatment.

The next day, BSO V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) Unit detectives spotted the suspects’ vehicle in North Lauderdale and attempted a traffic stop. The suspects fled and eventually stopped near the area of I-595 and SR-7 in Davie. Detectives said witnesses said two subjects armed with rifles fled from the vehicle. BSO V.I.P.E.R., SWAT and K-9 units, along with officers from Davie, Plantation and FHP searched the area but did not find the men.

As detectives continued investigating, they learned of a string of armed robberies reported in BSO’s South Broward District, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach and Miami Beach. Detectives said several of the suspects from the robberies have ties to Linares-Gomez.

After following up on multiple leads regarding Linares-Gomez’s whereabouts, V.I.P.E.R. and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from BSO’s TITAN (Threat Intervention Tactics Analytics Network), arrested the felon Monday at an Airbnb in Hollywood.

Linares-Gomez faces one count of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, shooting into a dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Investigators also arrested Travis Hunt for burglary of an occupied dwelling and Travon Octelus for possession of fentanyl. Both men face one count each of resisting without violence.

Additionally, investigators recovered two handguns, one with an extended magazine, five grams of heroin, eight grams of cocaine, 35 grams of cannabis, two fentanyl capsules and more than $3,000 cash. Based on the investigation, more arrests and charges are expected.

“Clearly, Tony Linares-Gomez has no regard for human life or the consequences of his criminal actions. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured or killed when he and his criminal friends fired several rounds at an occupied home with his baby inside,” Sheriff Gregory Tony said. “The collaborative effort and resources of multiple agencies resulted in a violent criminal being taken off the street, the seizure of firearms and illegal drugs, and possibly solving a rash of armed robberies.”

UPDATE

BSO provided the following update Wednesday afternoon:

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives continue their search for an attempted murder subject. According to BSO Violent Crimes investigators, one of the subjects involved in yesterday's pursuit is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred late Monday night in the 700 block of Northeast 43rd Court in Deerfield Beach. The incident involved a family matter where an adult male was shot. Detectives say the subject is wanted for attempted murder, not murder as previously reported.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. The investigation continues. No further information is available at this time.

On Tuesday, July 12, detectives with BSO’s V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) Unit observed the wanted subject in the city of Pompano Beach when a pursuit ensued into the city of Davie.

According to investigators, the vehicle involved in the pursuit was located unoccupied near the 5000 block of Southwest 36th Street in Davie. Detectives say witnesses on the scene stated the subject and a passenger exited the car armed with guns. A perimeter was established and BSO deputies, with assistance from Davie and Plantation PDs, searched the area.
