The authorities in Florida are looking into a shooting involving a deputy that took place on a Sunday afternoon in West Park area.The detectives from Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit stated that at 12;22 p.m on June 1st a call was received by Broward County Regional Communications reporting a disturbance with a weapon, at 4017 S.W 26th Street.When deputies reached the location the individual involved in this incident Josuha Gullatt reportedly assaulted a deputy by punching him in face causing him to fall down. After a second BSO deputy tried to use a Taser on Gullatt without success he ended up hitting the deputy before retreating into a bedroom in the house and arming himself with a weapon. In response to the danger posed by Gullatts actions one of the deputies shot him as a measure of defense. The deputies quickly provided help to Gullatt and he was later taken to a nearby hospital, for treatment. The paramedics also took the BSO deputy who was assaulted by Gullatt to receive attention at the hospital. The deputy received treatment for his injuries and was later discharged from the hospital After a deputy involved shooting, in Florida the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is looking into the situation closely The Homicide and Crime Scene units of BSO are examining the events that led to the shooting while BSOs Internal Affairs Unit is conducting an administrative review The deputy who discharged his weapon is currently assigned to administrative duties pending further investigationThe charges against Gullatt include two battery counts against a law enforcement officer and one count each of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, with violence; additionally charged is one count of aggravated assault involving a weapon.
