A fatal accident, in Deerfield Beach took the life of a dirt bike rider on Saturday. It happened after 6;30 p.m. When a car and a dirt bike collided at 100 N. Powerline Rd. The authorities got reports of the crash on Aug. 23. Soon Broward Sheriffs Office deputies and firefighters rushed to the scene. The Traffic Homicide Unit is now looking into what happened.A preliminary investigation into the accident found that Anthony Knight, the driver of a 2023 Yamaha YZ450F dirt bike was heading south on North Powerline Road riding in the right through lane as he approached Hillsboro Boulevard. At the time Carlos Mooza was driving his 2018 Hyundai Tucson north on North Powerline Road getting ready to turn left into a shopping center, near the 100 block. As Mooza started to make his turn crossing over the lanes the Yamaha collided with the passenger side of the Hyundai.A accident involving a dirt bike and a car turned tragic when the driver of the Yamaha identified as Knight, lost control and was thrown off the bike. He ended up on the sidewalk on the side of the road. Despite being rushed to Broward Health North by paramedics Knight was pronounced dead. The driver of the Hyundai stayed at the scene. Detectives believe that speeds were too high and this likely played a role in the collision. The police are still looking into what happened.
