The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that occurred near the 10200 block of Griffin Road in Cooper City. Shortly after 12 p.m., deputies responded to a call reporting a man had shot himself. BSO district deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene and located the injured man. According to the preliminary investigation, the deputy approached the man to try and help him. When the man attacked the deputy, the deputy discharged his weapon. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel began lifesaving measures. The man was pronounced deceased on scene. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is on scene and will investigate the shooting. BSFR and Davie Fire Rescue transported the man’s mother and a deputy to the hospital. Neither of them were injured by gunfire.
