Shortly after 7 p.m., Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a suspicious person armed with multiple large knives in the area of South Federal Highway and Southeast 10th Street in Deerfield Beach. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and made contact with an adult female armed with the large knives. At some point, shots were fired. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the female deceased on scene.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the circumstances of the shooting. BSO’s Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an internal administrative investigation.
