BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Broward Sheriff’s Office is holding a free Operation Medicine Cabinet and Shred-A-Thon event this Saturday, April 11, in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, 2001 S. Ocean Boulevard. BSO is collecting unwanted or expired prescription medications and also taking documents for shredding.
BSO said participating individuals who turn in prescription medications will receive a $5 gift card while supplies last.
Needles and sharp objects will not be collected at this event.

For shredding, officials will collect documents with a limit of two boxes per vehicle. BSO set size limits for each box: no more than 16 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 12 inches high.
The authority for the event sits with BSO, which is hosting and setting the collection rules. The location is at Assumption Catholic Church in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
What happens next is straightforward: residents who want to dispose of medications or shred documents can go during the three-hour window Saturday. People planning to bring documents should watch the two-box limit and the box size restrictions. Anyone with needles or other sharp objects will need to find another disposal option, since those items will not be accepted.
For more information, BSO provided a phone number, 954-831-8902, and its website at www.sheriff.org.
