A bicyclist was killed in an accident on August 7. It happened when a vehicle struck her. Now detectives from the Broward Sheriffs Office are trying to figure out what happened. They’re part of the Traffic Homicide Unit. They’re investigating the whole thing. The accident occurred Thursday at about 3;29 in the afternoon near Northeast 14th Street Causeway in Pompano Beach. From what they’ve found out far Anastazia Hitz was riding her bike across the street not at a crosswalk but somewhere, in the middle of the block. She was going from the side to the north side when a Ford F450 towing a boat hit her. It was a 2022 model. The accident happened when a Ford was heading west in the lane. Apparently the driver, Micheal Creque saw a bicyclist. Tried to swerve around them. As he veered to the right the boat trailer attached to the Ford came loose. The Ford and trailer then kept going heading off towards the curb and sidewalk. It ended in tragedy.. Now detectives are trying to piece together exactly what happened.A terrible crash ended with a vehicle and trailer coming to a stop in a parking lot. Not before they’d smashed into a few other cars. A 2015 BMW 640i and a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan took some damage. Soon BSO deputies and the fire rescue team, from Pompano Beach showed up to help. They rushed the bicyclist who’d been hit to Broward Health North. Sadly she didn’t make it. The investigation is still going on. So far it doesn’t look like the driver was going too fast or that the vehicle had any mechanical issues that would’ve caused the crash.
