Authorities from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are currently looking into an incident involving a single car accident that claimed the life of a 39 year old man in North Lauderdale area. The incident reportedly took place at 6;29 a.m. specifically near the 1700 block of Southwest 83rd Avenue last Wednesday morning. Initial findings from the scene suggest that Christopher Lucas was, behind the wheel of a 2002 Toyota Camry heading southbound along Southwest 83rd Avenue as it neared the curve at Southwest 17th Street. Detectives stated that Lucas failed to navigate the curve for a reason and proceeded southbound, over the elevated concrete curb before crashing through a metal fence into a building. The Camry incurred damages from colliding with the structure while the building suffered harm from flooding caused by damaged water lines.North Lauderdale Fire Rescue transported the 39 year old to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators suggest that due to the damage, to both the car and the structure and considering it was a low speed collision accident it is plausible that Lucas may have experienced a medical emergency. Lucas family also mentioned his existing health issue. The inquiry is ongoing.
