COOPER CITY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A motorcyclist is dead after a vehicle crash in Cooper City.

The preliminary investigation revealed that, investigators stated, Luis A. Silva, 26, of Sunrise, was travelling southbound on a 2004 Yamaha YZF R6 along Southwest 100th Avenue, just South of Griffin Road in Cooper City. At the same time, Frank Anthony Cerino was driving a 2022 BMW 840i in the southbound lane of Southwest 100th Avenue, right next to Griffin Road.

Investigators said that as Yamaha approached the slower moving BMW for reasons yet to be determined they investigated the motorcycle to a stop on top of the BMW. It is not known whether the driver of the Yamaha was also involved in an accident or whether he was thrown off the motorcycle while attempting to stop it, but he was thrown off the motorcycle and came to a rest in the roadway.

The BSO deputies and the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. The collapse was critical and Paramedics had to rush Silva to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. Investigators say Cerino was not injured and remained on scene.

The investigation continues.
