WEST PARK, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A 24-year-old man died early Tuesday morning after his dirt bike collided with a pickup truck in a West Park neighborhood, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened just after 8:27 a.m. at Southwest 44th Avenue and Southwest 20th Street, a quiet cut-through lined with single-story homes. Detectives with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit said the rider, identified as Qwanya Senatus Jean, was heading west on Southwest 20th Street on an Apollo Thunder 300 when he approached the stop sign at the intersection.

Investigators say Jean failed to stop and rode into the path of a southbound 2020 Ram Truck driven by 38-year-old Junior Alvarez of Hollywood. The dirt bike hit the driver’s side of the truck.

BSO said firefighters from Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue got to the scene and rushed Jean to Memorial Regional Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Alvarez remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No other injuries were reported.

Detectives stayed in the neighborhood for several hours, mapping the intersection and documenting skid marks and debris scattered near the stop sign. The dirt bike was heavily damaged and eventually loaded onto a flatbed.

The agency says the investigation remains open and no charges have been announced.
