BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A stretch of SW 4th Avenue was closed in all directions Saturday evening after a crash, according to a traffic advisory from the Boca Raton Police Department.

Police said SW 4th Avenue is closed between SW 2nd Street and SW 3rd Street due to an accident. The advisory asked drivers to seek an alternate route.

The alert was sent at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, April 12.

The closure affects local traffic moving through that short segment of SW 4th Avenue, including drivers trying to cut through the area rather than using larger east-west routes. Residents and anyone traveling nearby should plan for detours and slower travel until the roadway reopens.

Boca Raton Police did not release details on injuries, the number of vehicles involved, or how long the closure is expected to last. The advisory did not specify whether the crash involved any additional hazards or whether nearby intersections are also being restricted.

Authority for the closure and traffic direction at the scene sits with the Boca Raton Police Department, which issued the advisory and is directing drivers away from the blocked segment.

What happens next is the roadway will remain closed until police and any other responding personnel clear the scene and it is safe to reopen. Drivers should continue to avoid SW 4th Avenue between SW 2nd Street and SW 3rd Street and follow posted detours or directions from officers.

Residents should watch for updates from the Boca Raton Police Department and allow extra time if their route normally uses SW 4th Avenue in that area.
