BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Palm Beach County detectives are again asking for leads in the killing of Randi Gorenberg, a Boca Raton-area case that has remained unsolved since March 23, 2007.
The case began that Friday afternoon after Gorenberg left Town Center Mall in Boca Raton at about 1:12 p.m. after shopping. Investigators said the timeline that followed remains critical. Within about 40 minutes, Gorenberg was dead, her vehicle had been seen in Delray Beach, and witnesses had reported gunfire.
At about 1:54 p.m., a citizen called 911 and told the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office she heard gunshots and saw a woman being pushed from the passenger side of a black 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450 sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of the South County Civic Center in unincorporated Delray Beach. Deputies later determined the woman was Gorenberg and that she had been shot and killed.
The South County Civic Center is about five miles from Town Center Mall. Investigators have long focused on the short but crucial stretch of time between Gorenberg leaving the mall and the 911 call reporting the shooting.
Five minutes after that 911 call, at about 1:59 p.m., surveillance cameras captured the same black 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450 in front of the Home Depot parking lot. The vehicle was later identified as Gorenberg’s. That Home Depot location sits on the southeast corner of Atlantic Avenue and Jog Road in Delray Beach, less than two miles north of the South County Civic Center, where Gorenberg was killed.
Detectives said the Mercedes was recovered in the rear parking lot of the Home Depot shortly afterward.
The renewed appeal centers on anyone who may have seen Gorenberg or her vehicle during that narrow window. Detectives are specifically asking to hear from anyone who saw Gorenberg at Town Center Mall or anywhere between the mall and the South County Civic Center between 1:16 p.m. and 1:54 p.m. They also want to hear from anyone who saw Gorenberg’s black 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450 in the Home Depot parking lot around 2 p.m.
Investigators are also asking for information from anyone who noticed suspicious people at any of the three key locations tied to the case: Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, the South County Civic Center in unincorporated Delray Beach, or the Home Depot at Atlantic Avenue and Jog Road during the time period laid out by detectives.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County is taking tips connected to the case. Detectives did not announce any arrest, suspect identification, or break in the investigation in the information released with the new appeal. The public request is instead aimed at people who may have seen something that day and never came forward, or who may now remember a detail that seemed minor at the time.
Gorenberg was a wife and mother of two children.
