UPDATE: Another Protest Planned Outside West Boca Home Depot This Saturday

A Boca Raton man was arrested Saturday afternoon after Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies said he committed battery during a protest along Glades Road in unincorporated Boca Raton.

According to court records, Thomas Edward Landry, 67, was taken into custody on January 10 following an incident near 9806 Glades Road, an area where an anti-ICE protest was underway. As first reported by Boca Post, up to 150 people gathered Saturday to protest ICE outside the Home Depot–Publix plaza at Glades Road and U.S. 441.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene after radio traffic reported a battery had occurred during the demonstration. The responding deputy wrote that upon arrival, he was advised by another deputy that an altercation involving a protest sign had taken place.

According to deputies, one victim told deputies she was holding a sign when Landry approached her, intentionally slapped the sign out of her hand, and caused her to fall to the ground. She further stated that after knocking the sign away, Landry stepped directly into her personal space and positioned himself close to her face in what she described as an aggressive and confrontational manner.

Deputies also made contact with a second victim told investigators that Landry punched him in the chest with a closed fist and then struck his fire helmet, knocking it off his head.

Landry was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 1:34 p.m. on January 10 and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail system at 3:17 p.m., records show. He was charged with two separate misdemeanor battery charges.

He was held on a $1,000 bond and released later that evening at approximately 9:21 p.m. after posting bond.

Landry is scheduled to be arraigned on February 10, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Palm Beach County Court.

The probable cause affidavit and related documents include redactions pursuant to Marsy’s Law, which provides certain privacy protections for crime victims under the Florida Constitution.

As of publication, no additional charges have been filed in the case. The matter remains pending before the court, where the charge and allegations will be addressed during the arraignment process.
