BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton wakes up to a calm, mild setup Wednesday, but the beach is the main concern. The National Weather Service is keeping a high rip current risk in place for Palm Beach County beaches through late tonight, and that includes Boca’s shoreline.
Away from the water, the forecast is pretty quiet. Clouds increase through the day with a high near 77. Winds start out light and variable, then turn southerly later in the morning at about 5 to 9 mph. It is the kind of day where the I-95 corridor and Glades Road feel fine for errands or commuting, with no big weather disruptions expected, but if your plan involves the beach, this is a day to take the warning seriously.
The rip current statement calls the threat dangerous. Rip currents can pull swimmers away from shore into deeper water, even strong swimmers. The guidance is simple: swim near a lifeguard. If you get caught, relax and float, and do not fight the current. If you can, move parallel to the shoreline. If you cannot break free, face the shore and signal for help.
Tonight brings a noticeable cool-down compared to the afternoon. Skies stay mostly cloudy early, then gradually clear, with lows around 59 near Boca. Winds stay out of the south at 6 to 9 mph, then swing west after midnight.
The National Weather Service also flags a fog note for the interior. Patchy fog could develop near Lake Okeechobee through daybreak and again Thursday morning. That is not a beach issue, but it can matter for early commuters traveling west toward the Glades, including roads that feed out toward the lake and interior communities. Reduced visibility is possible in those areas, and the forecast discussion urges drivers to use caution and keep extra distance during the morning commute.
On the water, boating stays mostly manageable, but conditions gradually build later in the period. For the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 nautical miles, southwest winds run 5 to 10 knots today with seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally up to 5. Intracoastal waters are expected to have light chop. Tonight, winds pick up a bit to 10 to 15 knots out of the south before shifting west after midnight, with seas still 2 to 4 feet, occasionally to 5.
Thursday brings a wind shift behind a weakening front. Mostly sunny skies are expected with a high near 77 and west winds 6 to 8 mph turning northeast in the afternoon. Thursday night carries a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., with a low around 63.

High Rip Current Risk is in effect through late tonight for Coastal Palm Beach County, including Boca Raton beaches.
The advisory warns of dangerous rip currents and notes they can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
