BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton heads into a mostly cloudy Tuesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms, choppy Atlantic conditions early, and a high rip current risk at the beaches through this evening.

Today’s Weather – Tuesday, January 13, 2026

Boca Raton is waking up to a damp, unsettled setup along the I-95 corridor, with spotty showers already in the mix and more rounds possible through the day. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms today, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 75.

This is not an all-day washout, but it is the kind of day where the sky can look calm for a stretch and then flip quickly, especially closer to the Atlantic and the east coast metro areas. The broader forecast discussion notes occasional showers continuing today, favoring the east coast metro, which includes Boca and the coastal strip.

Winds stay on the breezy side but not extreme today, generally out of the northeast around 10 mph. That onshore flow matters for anyone near the water — it keeps the surf active and pushes choppier conditions into the Intracoastal and nearshore Atlantic waters. If you’re running errands up and down Glades Road, or commuting north-south on I-95, this is also a classic “wet pavement without a big headline storm” kind of day: slick roads, quick bursts of rain, and reduced visibility when a heavier shower moves through.

Rain totals can add up even if storms remain scattered. The forecast calls for new rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible, and the broader forecast discussion still flags the potential for isolated rainfall amounts near 1 inch in spots.

Tonight stays unsettled. The forecast keeps a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. window, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 66. Winds ease to 6 to 8 mph from the northeast, then shift to west after midnight.

For boaters and anyone watching the marine conditions, the improving trend is real, but it’s not immediate. The forecast discussion says hazardous winds and seas in the Atlantic will improve today, and the marine forecast shows seas subsiding after the early-morning advisory window. Still, conditions remain active enough that smaller craft and inexperienced operators should be cautious, especially early.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

High Rip Current Risk remains in effect through Tuesday evening for Coastal Palm Beach County, along with coastal Broward and Miami-Dade.

The warning is straightforward: dangerous rip currents are expected, and the National Weather Service notes rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. The safety guidance is also clear: swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float, do not fight the current, and if you can, swim parallel to shore. If you can’t break free, face the shore and signal for help.

Small Craft Advisory in effect until 7 a.m. EST this morning for the Atlantic coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, including both the nearshore waters out 20 nautical miles and the offshore waters from 20 to 60 nautical miles.
