Fatal Crash 1 Dead In Early Morning East Boca Crash

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Boca Raton Police Department reports that a Fort Myers man was killed in an early morning accident in East Boca.

Boca Raton Police tells Boca Post that Murat Gurkaynak, a 44 year old man from Fort Myers, is now deceased after a single vehicle accident that occurred on US-1 near 70th Street.

Some of our early morning commuting readers have told Boca Post that several lanes were closed which were re-opened just before rush hour.

Boca Raton, FL – Boca Raton Traffic Homicide Investigators are investigating a crash that occurred at
approximately 1:45 AM on Monday, January 31, 2022. A 2005 Ford Expedition was traveling northbound
around 7000 N. Federal Highway and NE 70th Street when it veered off the road and onto the east
sidewalk. The vehicle struck a street sign, a fire hydrant and two wooden electrical poles before coming
to a rest. The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information is asked
to contact Officer Rafalko at 561-620-6101.
