BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Coral Springs woman was jailed after being charged with grand theft after getting caught shoplifting over $5,000 dollars worth of merchandise from Sak’s Fifth Ave in Boca Town Center Mall.

Uyen Bui, 33, from Coral Springs, was observed by store security personnel shoplifting a lot of merchandise from Sak’s Fifth Avenue in Boca Town Center Mall on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022.

According to a police report, Boca Post obtained from Boca Raton Police Department, officers were dispatched to Sak’s Fifth Avenue at about 7 PM on Tuesday evening.

Bui is accused of shoplifting 12 items totaling $5,043.30. She allegedly concealed all of the merchandise in a stroller that her 2-month-old daughter was in.

The following is from the official police report:

“Amanda, who is employed by Sak’s Fifth Avenue as a loss prevention employee, was monitoring the store’s camera system when she began to notice an Asain female, later identified as Uyen Bui, selecting women’s and children’s clothing and placing it on a stroller and continue walking around the store. Amanda maintained constant visual surveillance of Uyen as she walked into the store’s elevator. Amanda stated that when Uyen exited the elevator, the merchandise was then concealed within the stroller. Uyen then exited the store without attempting payment for any items out of the store’s northeast exit (valet/parking garage). Amanda, with the assistance of other loss prevention employees, then identified herself and detained Uyen who was then escorted to the loss prevention office to await BRPD. Amanda recovered a total of twelve (12) Sak’s clothing items totaling $5,043.30. Amanda provided me with a detailed sales receipt and video footage of the theft which were later placed into BRPD Evidence.”

“I then met with Uyen, who was with her 2-month-old daughter. I informed her that based on my investigation, she was under arrest. Uyen’s boyfriend (child’s father), Cuong Phan, was contacted via telephone and he came to the loss prevention office and Miika was turned over to his custody.”

Bui spent the night in jail and was released on a $4,500 bond on Wednesday morning.
