BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton stays cool and breezy today with a small window for showers this afternoon and a high rip current risk along Palm Beach County beaches through this evening.

Today’s Weather - Wednesday, January 28, 2026

Boca Raton is waking up to a cooler, blustery stretch that still has a bite to it, especially if you’re heading out early along the beach or anywhere exposed near the Intracoastal.

Today’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high near 67 degrees. It will not feel calm. A north wind around 14 mph is expected, with gusts pushing as high as 21 mph, which is enough to keep things feeling crisp along the I-95 corridor and open areas west of town. If you’re on the move around Glades Road, Lyons Road, or near the Boca beaches, plan for a steady breeze and occasional stronger gusts.

Rain is not a major player today, but it is not fully off the board either. The National Weather Service forecast includes a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly in a tighter window between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. If a shower develops, it’s most likely to be brief and spotty, but it could still dampen the afternoon commute or outdoor plans for a short stretch.

The bigger impact is at the coast. A Rip Current Statement is in effect for Coastal Palm Beach County, and that includes Boca Raton. The statement warns that dangerous rip currents remain a concern through this evening. Even if the water looks inviting, the risk is not subtle today. This is the kind of surf setup where you can get pulled off the sand fast.

Tonight turns cooler again. A slight chance of showers is forecast between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., then skies trend clearer later, with conditions going from mostly cloudy to mostly clear overnight. The low is expected around 49 degrees in the Boca Raton area. Winds stay up after dark, too, with a northwest wind 13 to 15 mph and gusts up to 22 mph. The overnight chance of precipitation sits at 20 percent.

For boaters and anyone keeping an eye on marine conditions near Boca and Deerfield, conditions remain rough early. The marine forecast for coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach shows seas 4 to 6 feet, occasionally up to 8 feet, with north winds 10 to 15 knots and gusts up to 20 knots today. A slight chance of showers is also noted over the waters this afternoon. On the Intracoastal, conditions are expected to range from light chop today to more noticeable chop tonight.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

Here is what’s currently posted by the National Weather Service for the Boca Raton area and the broader South Florida forecast office advisory list:
