BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton stays mostly sunny and warm today, but a late-day shower chance gives way to a windy, cooler pattern tonight into early week — with hazardous beach and marine conditions building Monday.

Today’s Weather – Sunday, January 11, 2026

Boca Raton starts Sunday on the quiet side, and it mostly stays that way through the day. Sunshine dominates, the air feels warm for mid-January, and the beaches and the I-95 corridor should be in good shape for most plans—at least until late.

The National Weather Service forecast for 2 miles ESE of Boca Raton Airport calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 81 today. Winds are light early, then turn onshore in the afternoon: calm becoming east 5 to 7 mph.

Rain isn’t a washout setup, but it’s not a zero either. The forecast keeps it at a 30% chance of showers, mainly after 5 p.m. If you’re timing an evening walk near the Intracoastal or heading out along Glades Road later in the day, that late-day window is the one to watch. The broader forecast discussion supports the idea that the pattern is changing as a cold front approaches, with rain chances increasing later today and this evening.

Tonight is when the tone shifts. The forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Skies turn mostly cloudy, and temperatures settle to around 67.

The bigger story overnight is the wind. Behind the front, the forecast brings a north wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight, with gusts up to 26 mph. That kind of surge is noticeable across Boca’s east-west roads (Glades, Palmetto Park, Yamato), and it can make it feel cooler and rougher near the coast even when temps don’t crater.

The National Weather Service discussion says heavy rain is not anticipated, with 24-hour rainfall totals forecast to remain below a half-inch. It also notes that temperatures remain warm ahead of the front, with highs in the low to mid 80s possible across the region, before a modest cool-down settles in next.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

Rip Current Statement / Coastal Hazard Message: A High Rip Current Risk is posted from this evening through Tuesday evening for Coastal Palm Beach County, Coastal Broward County, and Coastal Miami-Dade County. The statement warns that dangerous rip currents are expected and notes rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Guidance from the statement: swim near a lifeguard; if caught, relax and float, don’t fight the current, and if possible swim parallel to shore. If you can’t escape, face shore and signal for help.

Marine: A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for local waters. The NWS marine forecast for the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach notes a Small Craft Advisory in effect from this evening through Monday evening, with hazardous marine conditions developing as winds surge behind the front.
