BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Breezy, mostly sunny weather continues in Boca Raton today with a high near 77 and east winds gusting over 20 mph at times. Rain chances stay very low, but a brief shower can’t be ruled out later Thursday as a little more moisture tries to move in. Tonight turns mostly cloudy with lows around 69 and a steady onshore breeze. Beachgoers should take the rip current risk seriously today, and boaters will find rougher conditions offshore through at least this morning and into the afternoon

South Florida remains under the influence of a strong area of high pressure over the western Atlantic, and that’s the main reason Boca Raton is starting Wednesday with a familiar pattern: lots of sun, a steady onshore breeze, and limited rain. The National Weather Service notes the pressure difference between that offshore high and lower pressure to the south and west is keeping winds up.

For Boca, that translates to an east to east-northeast wind around 15 to 18 mph today, with gusts that can reach the mid-20s. Those gusts will make it feel cooler along the beach and can kick up sand and choppy conditions on the Intracoastal in exposed areas.

Even with the breeze, the air above the surface is still fairly dry. Forecasters point out that dry air dominates just above the lowest part of the atmosphere, which helps keep skies mostly sunny and keeps rainfall limited.

Moisture levels remain low enough that most neighborhoods will stay rain-free today. Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, a weak disturbance aloft moving toward the Gulf may help nudge moisture up a bit.

Boating conditions remain hazardous on the Atlantic waters near Boca Raton today. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect offshore through this afternoon, with east winds around 15 to 20 knots and seas running 5 to 7 feet, occasionally higher, especially near and east of the Gulf Stream.

Conditions improve tonight as seas drop to about 3 to 4 feet, then continue easing Thursday. Along the coast, the persistent onshore wind is keeping surf and currents elevated.

The high risk of rip currents continues for Atlantic beaches, so swimmers should stay out of the water unless near a staffed lifeguard and avoid entering the surf alone.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

  • Thursday: Partly sunny with a high near 77. A stray shower is possible, mainly before early afternoon, but most areas stay dry. Winds ease slightly but remain onshore.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny and warmer near 80. A low chance of a brief afternoon shower or thunderstorm as moisture increases a bit. Winds turn more southeast and become lighter.
  • Saturday: Sunny and warm near 81 with a small afternoon chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Lighter winds overall, which can allow inland areas to heat up more quickly.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny and warmer near 83. A low-end afternoon storm chance returns, favored away from the immediate coast. Winds stay light from the southeast.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny with highs around 84 and mild overnight lows near 72. Rain chances remain low, but a quick pop-up shower can’t be ruled out late day.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny and warm again with highs around 84. The overall trend stays on the drier side, with any storms remaining isolated and mainly driven by daytime heating.
