BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton will be breezy and occasionally wet today, with showers likely and a chance of a thunderstorm. Highs top out near the mid-to-upper 70s, with east winds around 15–20 mph and higher gusts near the coast. A few heavier downpours could briefly flood poor-drainage spots, especially if rain repeats over the same neighborhoods. Beach and boating conditions remain hazardous, with a high rip current risk and rough surf continuing into the weekend
South Florida is still feeling the effects of a stalled front sitting just south of the region, and that setup keeps Boca Raton in an “on-and-off” shower pattern today. The National Weather Service notes that the atmosphere is slowly drying out compared to the past few days, which should help limit how widespread the heaviest rain becomes.
Even so, scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are still expected, and the Atlantic side of the metro area remains favored for passing bands of rain. A key driver today is the steady east to east-northeast wind.
That wind pushes moisture in off the ocean and can help showers develop or intensify near the coastline, especially during the late morning and afternoon. Gusts of 20–30 mph are possible, so expect a blustery feel along A1A and at the inlets.
Rain totals in the east coast metro could add up quickly in spots. The forecast discussion highlights the potential for localized urban and poor-drainage flooding, mainly where heavier showers hit already saturated ground.
Boaters and beachgoers should plan for hazardous conditions. Small Craft Advisories remain in effect for the Atlantic waters, with east to northeast winds around 20–30 knots and frequent higher gusts.
Seas remain very rough offshore, generally 8–11 feet with occasional sets higher, and conditions stay elevated into the weekend. Even the Intracoastal can be rough in exposed areas.
Along the beaches, a high rip current risk continues through at least Saturday evening, and rough surf remains a concern—especially north in Palm Beach County where a High Surf Advisory is posted through Friday evening.
