BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Samuel Vasconcellos of Pompano Beach has been arrested and charged with a hit-and-run charge for failing to stop for a crash involving death, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office has arrested Vasconcellos. Boca Post has been notified that the charge is related to a bicyclist’s hit-and-run death on April 29th, 2023.

The crash happened at approximately 5:38 AM on Saturday, April 29th, 2023.

According to an accident report, Vasconcellos was eastbound on SW 18th Street in the outside (number 2) lane directly behind a bicyclist, later identified as 46-year-old Longuinho Junor. Junorhad front and rear lights activated on his bicycle.

The front of Vasconcellos’ Chevrolet Malibu collided with the rear of Junor. Due to the impact, Junor was ejected from the bicycle causing him to land on Vasconcellos’ car.

Vasconcellos brought his car to a controlled stop. Vasconcellos then exited his vehicle and made contact with the Junor, however, then left the scene without leaving any information.

Vasconcellos was located at his residence shortly after in Broward County, through investigative leads.

Junior was transported to Delray Medical Center by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue with critical injuries. Junior died several days later.

Vasconcellos was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Broward County Jail, under an arrest warrant for leaving the scene involving death.
