LAKE WORTH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Boca Raton man is facing felony charges after investigators say a rent dispute escalated into an armed confrontation at a Lake Worth residence.

Eugene Weinraub, 80, of 55 Northwest 5th Avenue in Boca Raton, was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on March 3, 2026. Jail records show he was booked into the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center at 9:05 p.m. that evening.

Court records show Weinraub is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and armed burglary of a dwelling.

According to investigators, the incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. at a home on Boston Court in Lake Worth. Deputies were dispatched to the property in response to a civil dispute involving a firearm.

The alleged victims, identified in court records as residents of the home, told deputies that Weinraub is the landlord of the property. They said he arrived at the residence unannounced and began knocking on the windows.

The tenants opened the front door, at which point Weinraub appeared to be holding a firearm and demanded payment of rent, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Investigators say the confrontation escalated quickly.

When one of the tenants attempted to call 911 on a cellphone, deputies say Weinraub struck the phone out of the person’s hand with the firearm. Authorities say he then pointed the gun toward both individuals.

Deputies state Weinraub crossed the threshold of the front door and entered the residence without permission while continuing to point the weapon at the occupants.

Both tenants told deputies they feared for their lives during the encounter and said Weinraub did not have permission to enter the home.

Investigators reviewed sworn statements from the victims along with video footage captured on one of the tenant’s cellphones documenting part of the incident.

Based on the statements, video evidence, and the circumstances reported at the scene, deputies determined there was probable cause to arrest Weinraub on felony charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and armed burglary of a dwelling.

Weinraub was taken into custody later that evening and transported to the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center.

Palm Beach County court records show a circuit court case was opened under case number 50-2026-CF-001607-AXXX-MB.

During his first appearance hearing, a judge found probable cause for the charges and set bond conditions that included financial bonds on several counts as well as additional restrictions.

Court records show the judge also ordered Weinraub to have no contact with the victims and prohibited him from possessing firearms or weapons. If released, he must surrender all firearms, ammunition, and related items to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office within 24 hours.

The case has been assigned to the Palm Beach County Circuit Court’s felony division.

A return hearing in the case is scheduled for April 2, 2026, with an additional initial case conference set for April 23, 2026, according to court filings.

Weinraub remained in custody following his arrest pending bond and further court proceedings.
