BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A high-end Rolex that never made it to its intended buyer instead landed at a North Dixie Highway storefront, and police say the man who signed for the package wound up at the center of a grand theft case.

According to a Boca Raton Police arrest affidavit, a Boca Raton man ordered a Rolex GMT-Master watch valued at about $22,500 and had it shipped to his business via overnight delivery. The package did not arrive as expected. When he checked the tracking, it showed the watch had been delivered and signed for — but at his former business address on North Dixie Highway, not his current location.

The affidavit says the package was accepted at 2266 N Dixie Hwy, an address that now operates as a Brazilian smoke shop called Banza Zmoke Shop. Boca Post has learned that the location has previously been associated with "Crowned", a business owned by the by the buyer, according to the report.

When the buyer realized the mistake, he went to the old address and spoke with 25-year-old Vinicius Filho. Police wrote that Filho admitted signing for the package under a variation of his name, opening it, and finding the Rolex inside.

Instead of arranging to get the watch back to the buyer, Filho told detectives he handed the Rolex to a friend, the affidavit states. That friend then took the watch to a local pawn shop and received cash for it.

Investigators say the pawn shop transaction was documented on a standard pawn slip. The affidavit identifies the man who signed that pawn ticket as Daniel Brasileiro, who used a Brazilian passport during the transaction. It is not yet clear from the police paperwork whether Brasileiro is also facing criminal charges in connection with the case.

The report says the buyer eventually learned his missing watch had been pawned and confronted Filho again. At that point, according to the affidavit, Filho arranged to pay the buyer several thousand dollars from the pawn proceeds. The payment did not cover the full value of the watch or the amount received at the pawn shop.

Detectives recovered the Rolex after placing it on hold at the shop and documenting it as evidence. The affidavit lists the watch’s value in the grand theft range between $20,000 and $100,000 under Florida’s theft statute.

Filho is described in the arrest report as a Brazilian citizen, born in Caratinga, Brazil. His citizenship is listed as “BZ,” and the paperwork notes that no U.S. Social Security number was provided.

Police ultimately arrested Filho on a charge of grand theft for property valued between $20,000 and $100,000. The case has been filed under a Palm Beach County felony case number.

As with all criminal cases, Filho is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty in a court of law. Filho is currently being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on a Grand Theft charge.
